Great googly-moogly!

Hello again, and welcome back!

How was your time away? Many thing happen? Not as many as what's been going on at Club nights, I bet!

AS it stands, it has been so busy and happening at the Club recently that I have broken three Awesometers (patent pending) and now have the replacement parts on their way to me from their mountainous factory, high in the Andean Alps.

"Wheres the proof?" You say! "Did some-one take photos for you to steal, as always?" You ask!

Well, this time, We took our own footage and I was given a photo!

Circus education.

Boom! Teamwork!

Ok, So maybe not as many pictures as I would have liked, but I realised that I took about 8 photos for three different poses, Thus why I thought I had heaps to show you all... Also, we ended up having too much fun to remember to take many photos, as evident here...

And here...
For those of you not satisfied by the images provided, I offer you this picture of my cat, helping me with an art project as a distraction!

But in all seriousness, the team at MUFC have been rocking it out and just having a ball and are currently prepping for the Rongotea Fireworks this Friday and another private gig. We are really starting to get to the perfect time of year with some fine weather in the evenings where we can just chillout and burn.

We will aim to get more shots and exciting information out to you all with the next set of gigs that we'll be going to, but until then...

As always, My name is Ty... Thanks for reading!

I'm out!

A few quick snaps.

WANGANUI FESTIVAL OF CULTURES!
Despite being stuck mostly inside due to not so great weather we all had a great time, in fun costumes and impressive make-up. Managed to acquire an army of children, scare the life out of some teenagers and brighten the day for a lot of random strangers :D
Our fantastic make up artist! Came up from Wellington to help us all out!

This little red riding hood knows how to look after herself!

Run AWAY!

Army of children.
All the interesting, creepy characters together.

As usual the day was a great success and heaps of fun.
The ninja did not catch red riding hood, and the zombie did not successfully turn anyone else.
Any ideas for new characters?? ??
If so please flick them our way as we are always keen to try something new!

Oh the antics we get up to.

As most of our followers know, as a Club we meet up on a Tuesday night to practice new skills socialise and basically just cause havoc :P
Here is a bit of what we got up to last night, if this doesn't tempt you to get involved in circus arts and tomfoolery I don't know what will.
Ty getting his groove on ;)

Puts a new spin on both diabolo and playing in the rafters.

Showing a flirtatious side.

Thursday evening we had the fantastic fun opportunity to get our skills out on display, in a professional PG manner of course ;), at the entrance of a the Globe Theature in Palmerston North to welcome people to a Burlesque Show! Staff, poi, fire eating, body burns, rope dart, knife throwing and even a bit of hula hooping.
A lot of laughs, fire and of course fantastic costumes and attire to fit in with the theme of the night. We even had some ladies dressed to the nines have a go at knife throwing under the safe guidance of Ty and Scott. No one lost any fingers or toes so I call that a success!
A small tip to all of you lovely ladies out there who are a big fan of fire poi: it is very very difficult to do a ground burn when wearing a steal boned corset, turns out you cannot bend down far enough to actually complete it. Also try make sure it is a cotton not polyester/satin corset, slightly less of a fire hazard.
On the note of attire up we also had some very dapper looking fire spinners in suit and tie, I do approve! And thankfully we were all dressed up a little as we were later invited to watch the Burlesque show. An eye opener indeed but we found a commonality- seen as we both come from fiery hot background.
Great night all round! And the show is on again tomorrow night! Pop on down if you get the chance.

Mentioned in the Wanganui Chronicle !

On Saturday the 18th October a handful of our crew will be heading over to Wanganui to get our groove on at the Festival of Cultures! This is an annual gig that we get involved in and have a fantastic time.
This year we have even been mentioned in the Wanganui local newspaper the Wanganui Chronicle, and I note, we have been called a returning "Favourite." Click here to read the article!
Definitely adding that feather to our hat!
So if your passing through Wanganui or a local of the area, pop on down next Saturday, check out our sweet moves and skills as well as diverse acts and cultures on show. You won't regret it!

Le sigh... Controversy already!

Good afternoon!

As you may be aware, there has been a wholesale change in our ranks. Many of us have moved on, some of us have jumped in and, like a strong tree in the harshest of storms, some of us have weathered the howling winds to remain!

Despite being overlooked! (I can't blame the new person, I showed her how to drive this thing...)

As a slight amendment to the last entry, and to undoubtedly fuel my own verbal ego, I would also like to announce the return of... ME!

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, I am still here! I will still be here... I'm trapped and possibly cannot escape. Only transform!

This year, I shall be representing the club as the newest incarnation of the Performance Co-odinator.

Thats right, you will be stuck with me for another year! But, there is also several others who will be putting words on s screen, so you will not have to deal with my ramblings too much!

Yeah...

Anywho, I am looking forward to the coming year and I'm sure we will see great things from this new team!

Peace out!
Ty

Updatification one of today!

Good morning, my friends...

Today marks another day, in which information shall be passed from us to you, in the form of images and words. Let us mark this solemn occasion with some reverence and dignity...

Or  not... As you were!

So, I totally forgot and really should have put in a reminder to myself, but we were at the IPC Spring Festival over the weekend. This was a wonderful day of celebration, marking the change into Spring and the Japanese culture.

There were dancers, drummers, singers, food, stalls and us! It's a very beautiful place in the spring and we we're happy to be out there to perform.

Anywho, there were a couple of snaps of our crew there, all of which I have stolen from their Library Facebook Page. If you go to their photo albums, you'll see that there is a lot more than us, but I have a thing where if I steal photos, I only take ones of us. Unless they're really pretty, or super embarrassing... Which is generally us in a nutshell... Pretty and Embarrassing...

LET US BEGIN!

Pretend they aren't there... I am safe if I close my eyes!

Faces are over-rated, but this guy really wants to keep his...
If you have been following us for a while, you'll know that many of the people in this shots are both professional and seasoned perfomers. They are part of our main crew and they spend a lot of their time in the spot light. However, I just want to highlight this little extra. This is one of our up an coming team members and this was her first show with us. Was great to see her out and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this!

SO, there were also a couple others out there performing too, and they did a great job. Unfortunately, I couldn't steal any photos of them to show their awesomeness, so here is a ninja llama... For distraction and to reduce any chances of an awkward silence...

That is all that I have for this morning, so... Um... Yes...

Be excellent to each other!

Ty

Holy digital media, Batman!

Another blog post! In the same week!

Well, really, it's another short one... Mainly because the footage for Unity in Diversity have been put up.

For many of out performers, namely half of the crew here, this was their first choreographed performance and they smashed it! Super proud of these guys! Anyway, heres the video! Enjoy!

Peace!
Ty

Good morning! Hello! Dobar Dan and other international greetings!

A small update today!

Things are slowly moving along with the club and we're knocking out spins left, right and centre! Our recent one bought us to the Lido Aquatic Centre, where we hung out for the Glow in the Dark Wave Rave! Was a pretty fun night for the kids, and it was pretty cool for the children that came too!

With the power of modern technology and a bit of voodoo magic, we have thrown together a little box of moving pictures to show you all some of the stuff we did and how cool the place was!

Boom!

I'll admit, not the greatest quality footage, but I am a clown, not a film maker! Haha!

Anywho, keep your ground to the ear and we'll let you know where we will be popping up next!

Peace!
Ty

Another! In the same year?

Whats this? A new blog post? Lies! No-one uses this... Or reads this... I could say anything I want on here and no-one would know! Something scandalous like...

Underneath all of my clothes, I am not wearing a single thing... Nothing at all...

Pretty racey, I know! However, in order to shift the hate and shame of that last statement, I offer you something rather trashy!

HA! and you didn't think this could get any worse? You obviously don't know too much about me... Or the current incarnation of this club... However, I digress!

This weekend passed us with another wonderful Unity in Diversity performance from our wonderful team! I would give you more details, but I wasn't there, because I am a slacker and secretly do not like these people. They are too awesome for me and I try to avoid them at social occasions!

All I can truley offer you, in terms of how wonderful they are is this image...

Not going to lie... Reminds me of this guy...

But in more seriousness, the amazing Kathryn has shared with us some backstage photos and I have ungraciously stolen them! If she reads this and doesn't ant these photos on here, then it was her mistake to let me have access to these...

"The square peg should go in the square peg... Why is this not working?"
Theres something seedy about this picture, but I can't figure it out...

She needed to make a call and managed to find a phone box!
The giant's wives. He liked them, so he put rings on them!
I'm not sure what he's looking at, but it must be really amazing...

So, until video footage comes to light, you have to just take my word that this actually happened and that these photos were not falsified in any way... If I fin anything I will post it on here and our Facebook Page thingy (I know how to technology!). Until then, you can see us at the Glow in the Dark Wave Rave, This coming Friday!

Peace!
Ty

Good Golly, Miss Molly!

Good morning! Hello! Ave! Guten Tag! And other such greeting from differing locations!

So, while ambling around the internets, I found a large pile of digital dust, gave it a wipe and you know what I found? Well, this blog...

With a can of rust remover and a massive jar of elbow grease, I have started to chip away at this thing and see if there is life left in it! Fingers crossed there is...

From memory, our last post was generally about what has happened over the last little bit of 2013. That was fun and exciting, but ultimately, things must be kept moving forward. HOWEVER! The majority of those things will happen again! Hurray!

Now, as you would all like to know, I'll start with a basic run down with what we've been up to over the last year!

There was... Uh... We had... This one time, we...

O.k... I'm not going to lie... This year has been kinda slow... And quiet... However, we are still here! And we did a couple things that people were at!

There was also this!

The former was a fun musical night with the Funtastic team at Groovylicious. There were pirates... The other was where some of our crew hung out with the crew at the Celtic for an awesome concert night!

See! Through the magic of the internets, we still live! And we're still kinda pretty!

So, what have we been doing in the meantime? We have been playing with new things! All the new things! New skills! New toys! New acts! Old acts! Other things that can and shall not be described!

Through the overwhelming wisdom of the short attention span generation, I offer these as extra proof we live and have done things! All acts are property of respected performers and are subject to availablility (so says our lawyers).

And because I am not super magical with computers, heres a youtube link to another thing that our crew gets to play with!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63pgP-xiv-A&feature=youtu.be

Now, onto the future! With more excitingness and colour! Well, more accurately just words... And more words inbetween...

On our calender we have these things happening!

Unity in Diversity! 16 August at the Globe Theatre! A fun two show event where multiple cultures come and enlighten us with some of their dances, stories and generally showing us all how fantastic some of the other cultures in our cities are. Also, we'll be there swinging stuff around for funsies!

September 6, we are helping out the Roller Derby girls fundraise to send some of our local bruisers internationally with the Nation Roller Derby Team! The last time we hung out with the ladies, we had an absolute blast and it was amazing to be around these girls. This time it's meant to be bigger! Details are limted at this point, but come on out and support some of our awesome local sports type people! More info to follow!

Whanganui festival of Cultures! 18 October in Whanganui!
We were there last year and we had an amazing time! Make the trip over for a whole days worth of shows and performers!

A new event coming up on our list to be aware of is the Marton Market Day. This is in November, so keep you eyes posted for more information and when you can see our awesome faces!
http://www.rangitikei.com/marton-market-day

We also have a couple other things in the works, some of which are on a "need to know" basis, so if we get the go, we (or I) will word vomit them in your lovely direction!

With that all said and done, I shall leave you with what I have written and actually return to the work I'm supposed to be doing... Or... Get lunch then do work...

Peace out!

Our End to 2013

So this post is a little bit later than planned. Unfortunately it took a little longer to find time to write it than expected. First off, happy New Year and we hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.

The last few months of 2013 were fairly busy for us and were a lot of fun J

Kicking it off was the Wanganui festival of cultures. 7.30 am on the 5th of October the first of us started to gather to get in to costumes and get creative with face paint. By everyone was in the car and off to Wanganui.

What a fantastical day. We had great weather, great people, a great crowd, and a wonderful time. We had a voodoo man with a diabolo and card tricks, a punk rock hooper, Peter pan and Tinkerbell doing adagio (aka people stacking), a mime, a ninja, a pink cat on stilts, an ice fairy with a contact ball, a guard with a staff, and warrior demon with a staff (which sound scarier than it was). We also had to wonderfully formally dressed ladies who came down to burn with us on stage.

Everyone’s costumes were amazing and everyone did a wonderful job on the day despite a few hiccups with the performance.

The next event we had was Manawatu Harvest Festival on the 19th of October. The Harvest Festival is an event by the Sustainable Living Trust to promote the use of sustainable resources and leaving a better planet for future generations (more information about these guys can be found here: http://www.maifarm.org.nz/).

Once again the weather was absolutely brilliant for us which meant everyone had a great time. We had stilts, the rolla bolla, poi, staff, and we also welcomed some new characters to the show, The Flowers who were doing adagio and were definitely a crowd favourite.

This event was a first performance for quite a few of the people who came out with us and they did absolutely fantastically! Thanks to all of our performers the day ran smoothly and everyone loved us and we already have a few plans for next year.

Just over a week later we had or next event, ROLLER DERBY!!! Well the after party at least. Eleven of us rocked up to The Royal here in Palmerston North where the after party for the National Roller Derby Tournament was being held. People from all over New Zealand had come to this event making it one of the biggest events we had performed at all year. The theme was circus so of course we with all our crazy fitted in perfectly. We started off with a bit of indoor stuff which included contact juggling, poi, and regular juggling. Then it was time to block of our little area outside and start the fire show. The crowd enjoyed it and our performers and safety crew did an absolutely wonderful job.

Once again everyone made an effort to be in costume. We had all manner of circus from simple crazy face paint to a strong man and woman duo and crazy fluorescent.

Every year on the 31st of October we have a regular event with St Albans Church who runs a Come as You Are Mardi Gras as an alternative to Halloween. This event has rides, an impressive amount of bouncy castles, and stalls. Then, once it’s dark, a pretty awesome fireworks display. Every year we rock up and act as filler while they are setting up the fireworks. This group is probably one of the best behaved crowds that we have and is an enjoyable event for all the performers involved.

And finally we were out at Rongotea on the 8th of November for the best fireworks display ever! Another regular gig that we have which, once again, it was awesome. We started off slow with bit of crowd work, followed up by a mass free spin which lasted about 20 minutes. Then we all sat down to watch the fireworks, which were absolutely amazing.

A big thanks to everyone who made 2013 awesome, whether you were a performer, safety or just came and hung out with us at an event or club night. We have a few things in the works for 2014 including a showcase for the first night of club for the newbies to show off all our toys so keep an eye out for that.

Let’s make 2014 even more awesome and as always, happy twirling!!
